# Recertification Overview

The Recertification message is a notification to the pharmacy to approve on-going active orders due to routine cycle audits required for regulatory requirements. This message is prescriber initiated through LTPAC prescribing systems to create a retrievable audit trail of recapitulated prescriptions.

## Recertification Requirements

- There are no requirements that are unique to this message. The validations applied to common elements found in other messages are <font color="#0C121D">found in the tables in the</font> [Display Requirements Tables - Recertification](docId\:D0acaV_NjcERsRuWNRvO1) section.

## Recertification EPCS Requirements

- Controlled substances that are active orders during an audit may be included in a recertification audit.

## Recertification Best Practices

- This message is specific to LTPAC settings who provide medication management services. An active order at the pharmacy is necessary in order to send this message.
- This message is strictly a notification to continue therapy as prescribed. Recertification is informational only and not a fillable message.
