This section defines the record-level element detail tables for the Medication History for Populations (Panel) flat file exchange. These tables specify each field's position, name, data type, requirement designation, and expected values. The element details are organized into two areas:

- [Request File Elements](docId\:Efi3ElhRy4HsPPgfbu-as) defines the elements for files submitted to Surescripts, including the Request Header (HDR), Request Details (DTL), and Request Trailer (TRL) records.
- [Response File Elements](docId\:iQGWUflQs-5EXQA8cKEth) defines the elements for files returned by Surescripts, including the Validation Response Header (SDH), Details (SDT), and Trailer (STR) records, as well as the Panel Management Response Header (HDR), Details (DTL), and Trailer (TRL) records.

Refer to the table below for requirement designations (mandatory, conditional, optional) used throughout the other tables in this section.

**Requirement Designation for Element Attributes:**

| **Code**     | **Description**                                                                |
| ------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| mandatory    | The element must be used per the specification (e.g., XML schema validation).  |
| conditional  | The element is to be used per the conditions specified.                        |
| optional     | Some fields do not have specific conditions. Data should be sent if available. |
