Defaulted Questions

For prior authorization transactions, Surescripts will automatically apply default answer choices when certain questions are present on the Prior Authorization. Specifically, Surescripts will default answer choices for Prior Authorization questions that:
- Attest that the request is not a billing or tiering exception, and
- Indicate that the standard timeframe for review is appropriate.
These defaults are applied to support automation and do not require prescriber input.
Notes:
- Defaulting occurs only when the applicable question is included on the Prior Authorization.
- If a question is not present, no default is applied.
- Default answers are applied consistently across applicable Prior Authorization transactions.
