Record Locator & Exchange ADT

The Record Locator & Exchange (RLE) product is a record locator service that can use ADT messages to load patients with records at vendor locations into the RLE MPI. When the RLE MPI is loaded, RLE will respond to Patient Search requests (either IHE XCPD or FHIR® Patient Match requests) by searching the RLE MPI.

This guide was created to assist vendors in developing and transferring messages needed to support the Surescripts RLE product. The audience for this document includes any customer responsible for developing a system interface for these RLE ADT messages.

This guide is meant to support, integrate, and further clarify the HL7 implementation guides and best practices as used when transacting through the Surescripts network. It does not reproduce the base standards in their entirety. When developing, this guide should be used along with additional documentation referenced and applicable customary coding standards.
