The Recertification message is a notification to the pharmacy to approve on-going active orders due to routine cycle audits required for regulatory requirements. This message is prescriber initiated through LTPAC prescribing systems to create a retrievable audit trail of recapitulated prescriptions.

There are no requirements that are unique to this message. The validations applied to common elements found in other messages are 

Controlled substances that are active orders during an audit may be included in a recertification audit.

This message is specific to LTPAC settings who provide medication management services. An active order at the pharmacy is necessary in order to send this message.

This message is strictly a notification to continue therapy as prescribed. Recertification is informational only and not a fillable message.
