Use the Provider Locations page to search for, create, and manage provider location records in the Surescripts directory. This page supports key onboarding and maintenance tasks, including registering providers, managing service levels, identifying primary SPIs, and preparing for vendor transitions.
The Automated Change of Vendor WorkflowChange of Vendor process uses existing provider location data and does not require special configuration on this page.
Search Provider Locations allows you to search for providers within the directory based on specific criteria provided on-screen. Once completed, click the Search button.
Search Tips:
In some instances, a provider may be registered multiple times with the Refill and/or Change service level(s) at the same standardized address. To streamline message routing and data publication, one of the SPIs will be designated as the Primary for Refill and/or Change.
Primary indicators serve two key purposes:
Example: As shown below, if two SPIs are registered at 13850 Portland Ave S, Burnsville, MN 55337, and both support Refill and Change, the SPI marked as Primary (e.g., 9989823209006) will receive all related messages and be the one listed in the download file.
The Create Provider Location page allows you to create and update provider location information as well as set configuration options such as Active Start Date, End Date, Delivery Overrides, Directory Specialties, Use Cases, and Service Levels.
Create a provider location by completing all the required fields on the screen. When finished, click the Create button.
You can add a mailbox while viewing an individual Provider Location or Pharmacy record.
About the Mailboxing service:
Mailboxing is designed for prescriber and pharmacy customers who do not maintain a persistent Internet connection.
With Mailboxing, Surescripts:
Customers retrieve messages by periodically polling the Surescripts gateway using an HTTPS GetMessage request.
To add a mailbox:
Create a support case directly from a Provider Location or Organization record to get help with an issue. The case is created as a Salesforce ticket, and the record you’re viewing is automatically included in the case details. You can also attach files when submitting the case.
The case template is specific to the type of record being viewed. Any further updates or action on that case would need to be handled in Salesforce directly.
Click the Support Case button on the left navigation pane while viewing a Provider Location or Organization record to begin the process.
